Basics

iFunny's Automated Moderator, or Automod for short, is a program developed by Funcorp in the wake of Tazandra being bullied off the app for allegations of grooming teenage boys. It was designed to do all the work of a typical Golden Age mod — including absurd acts that would match their power-tripping nature — without the pushback behind each action that they would receive. It is a poorly-thought out system from its very inception, as it occupies a constantly fluctuating state between never working as intended and being so immensely dictatorial, that it fundamentally changes posting styles and local dialect every update. It maintained that quality even with the addition of Indian callcenter moderators in July, 2024. This was all in the attempt to scrub the app's offensive community from history to present themselves as being suitable for sponsorships and advertising.

Functions

Automod was built with several functions in mind. Here is a list of all that was discovered, as Funcorp themselves have never disclosed the use of this program or functions to the public.

Blackhole

Automod has the ability to blackhole any post it deems unfit with the collection of autobanned images and list of words and phrases as a reference. If your post refuses to upload or if it uploaded with an "Ø" symbol, then Automod has spotted something wrong with it. Older posts are grandfathered, and will remain even if there are changes to the image-scanning logic.

Autogunt

Automod has the ability to autogunt, the process of allowing the post to stay up but visibly removing it from tags, Collective, and your profile, offending posts that includes restricted language or image categories. This is NOT a grandfathered process for older posts, and it makes it nearly impossible to locate classic memes after they are caught in the crossfire between logic updates. In some cases, users above a certain day count can view these autogunted posts, but anyone under that number cannot.

Featuring

Automod has the ability to automatically feature any content it wants. Typically, this means that as long as your post is flagged with nothing against it and includes tags and metatags that Funcorp deems popular, it will randomly draw that post from a pool come next feature cycle. Smile-Frown ratio does not affect probability, and as such, posts with less than a hundred smiles could occasionally be found.

Editing Comments

Automod has the ability to retroactively edit and remove comments based on its library of banned keyphrases. It also prevents the posting of comments if it triggers specific keyphrases.
