What the fuck is the difference between a sunni and shia

From what i've seen, it's literally just a succession crisis with shias wanting muhammad's cousin to be the successor to the caliphate while sunnis wants his companions instead to be successor, it sounds like some retarded shit.

Its similar to the christian divide too IMO and Shia incorporates more zoroastrian holidays

I think Sunnis are the type of Muslim that commonly do the "bomb vest suicide for their god" thing that the average uninitiated Westerner attributes to the entire Islamic faith.

I find it weird how muslims base their entire religion on sex. Is their self control so weak that their women have to be entirely covered?

I heard explanations from Muslims before about that particular problem. The gist of it was that if they ever saw a woman with less than a hijab, they wouldn't be able to handle themselves and will drop everything to try to rape her right then. Doesn't matter if it's sexually relevant or as simple and sexless as an ankle. They taste women in the air, and the rapeblob cometh nevertheless.

I think it's less to do with religon and more with them being stupid, they can't hide behind Islam as an excuse. Just look at how when they immigrate to Nordic countries they're given lessons on why rape is le bad.

Some Shiites are extremely heterodox and border on Gnosticism or trinitarianism. Alawism, Druzism, and Yazidism all originated as very esoteric and heterodox versions of Shia Islam from what I remember. They’re also much more apocalyptic than Sunnis. Esoteric movements in Islam like Ishraqi or Sufism transcend the Sunni-Shia barrier and take a lot from Sunnis like Avicenna but they are more prominent today among Shiites.
