the thing is that sometimes i do know its bait but sometimes it can be hard to tell if its bait or if the poster actually believes it

Just ignore it, if on an Imageboard hide the thread just don't interact it and know that this is the whole reason why they post the bait in the first place, to get a reaction from you and when you don't react you starve them.

The way i do it is i think about the process or the buildup the person was going through before making that post and how it scales with everything else in the world and it just makes it seem pointless
