1. The nips displaced the Ainu people (I heard they were an entirely new race @Sectionalism )
2. They stole everything from China
3. Their media is overrated, Anime is a limpwristed attempt at hero novels (well thats not even why as schopenhauer says to get famous just write for fools, it a cultural export) their characters look scrawny, but DB is ight but thats inspired from Chinese works (but as I said Europe/ME/China has more superior heros like Don Quixote, Gilgamesh, or Shennong)
Some pluses though is that they adapted quickly + quite homogenous

its a fine country but its severely overrated. the thing i hate most about japan is the fact that there are braniggers from there. the entire country is nothing to write home about thoughie

To add onto this:

  • Like most East Asian countries right now, they have a very low birth rate (1.15)
  • Lack of a right to remain silent
  • Extreme overworking culture. Due to some shit that the emperor said post-WWII to get the economy going (which worked), but now it is to the point where it is the main thing holding Japan back. Extreme hours, unpaid overtime, intense pressure. Salarymen drop out of consciousness in the middle of the sidewalk. People often succumb to karoshi (death by overworking) or just commit suicide. Despite efforts by the government, workers feel bad having to take mandatory holidays and 1 in 10 employees still work over 80 hours of overtime a month. Also due to overworking people don't have time to get married or have babies causing said low birth rates.
  • Japan like most of the non-western world, has a shame culture unlike most of the western world that has a guilt culture. Making people feel shameful when they fail to reach other peoples expectations of them. Especially on education and getting into a prestigious university. So much to the point that adolescents can kill themselves or voluntarily disappear and start a new life and identity over failing a test.
  • And many, many more.
