Why not both!
I think the way we form decisions is partly based on ancestrial factors (id say up to 50%- 12.5 from each grandparent, 12.5 from each parent) and the rest we can do on our own disposition.. what makes me think that is because we interact with surroundings our progenitors havent and therefore your end goal will be vastly different from theirs)

Gods
Therefore we can stoop as low as an immobile or soar as high as a superhuman
