In video games, pixel art and low-poly graphics are a turnoff for me

Posted under /ent/

Usually if an indie game utilizes pixel art and low-poly graphics i feel less inclined to play it since such graphics are too easy to make, plus it gives me indie fatigue. Exceptions are made for mods of older games that already had those graphics to begin with.

The fact that troons would rather rip off oldshit instead of making an identity of their own

They're either trying to masquerade as retro, are oldfags who trooned out or are only choosing these graphics becuase they're easier to do. The only game i play that has pixel graphics is Toilet Boom (currently only on mobile, will soon be released on Steam).

yeah even if its 2030 i don’t think i’ll see any indieslop developer making a ps2 era inspired game because replicating that takes too much skill for them. low poly graphics are sometimes nice but only in games where they do that because of their limitations (ex: mario 64, goldeneye, ff7, maybe oldfag doom but im not gonna count that). even then they can look stupid at times. i also believe pixel art has been perfected in the 90’s and will never have that much soul anymore due to it not being a limitation anymore since developers tried to make their game look good despite their limitations meanwhile modern indiesloppers are making the blandest looking pixel art ever because they’re not trying to make it look good. they’re trying to make people say “hecking nostalgiarinos o algo”.

There are a few exceptions to this rule such as Terraria, Hotline Miami and Toilet Boom (maybe even Minecraft?).

yeah but the difference between terraria, hotline and minecraft from the others is that they’re actually good games. the only thing the indieslop games have going for them is the pixel art/low poly shit

Well said, asthetics are nothing if the game itself plays like garbage.

What about Pixel Car Racer doe

I've played that game before, Pixel Car Racer gets a pass becuase it's a good game, if a game is good it gets a pass. This rule is usually exempt for mobile games due to the fact that the mobile game sphere is less saturated with troonslop and that it's easy to identify bad mobile games from the good ones.

True, rape Ultrafag and Undertroon fans

I don't really have problems with Low poly and pixel games Baldi's Basics is good albeit it has these graphics because it a parody of those poorly made educational video games from the 90s but still. I more judge by the plot, message and the characters i guess one problem with pixel art is that it barely requires any skill to make so my opinion is mixed.

Baldi's Basics was made in two weeks for a contest so of course it went with low end graphics.
