RDR-0.3.5

Hello everyone, and welcome to the 0.3.5 update for SWAbooru! This was a long time coming, and there's plenty of work that was done in the meantime. Here are our new features:

- Added Custom PFPs:

To change your Default PFP to a custom one, go into your account settings and set "Is PFP Custom?" to "Yes." All you need to do then is upload whatever image you want in Upload, (no need to post it) and take the id from the Media Asset and paste it inside the "Custom PFP" number box. As long as the image is 1:1 aspect ratio, at or below 1600px, and the image exists, it should change the question mark image to your custom one. If your Custom PFP were to be deleted, there's a backup image that's supposed to replace it.

Custom PFPs follow the rules of posting, and anyone posting explicit content will have their PFPs reset, and illegal content will be punished accordingly.

- Added Flashcorner:

Upload Flash content to play in browser or download for personal use.
(Warning: You need to disable scrolling via arrow keys, as they will affect visibility if you're outside fullscreen mode)
Depending on the type of Commentary Title you add, the title will appear in the Flashcorner listing for ease of differentiating content. Auto-Approval will be the same as regular posts (twenty minutes after posting), but approvers and above can unapprove or reject Flash posts if they have doubts about the content within until everything's clear. Site-specific keyboard shortcuts are always disabled on Flash posts.

This will be added soon to the official rules, but any and all future Flashcorner content MUST be original content or relate to $WÅ culture in some form or fashion.

- Added Custom Thumbnails:

Flash & Video posts are now able to change their thumbnail to any Media Asset within a specific aspect ratio range. This is the algorithm for determining if a custom thumbnail is too disproportionate for display:

THUMBNAIL_WIDTH / 2 > THUMBNAIL_HEIGHT x 1.4, OR, THUMBNAIL_HEIGHT / 2 > THUMBNAIL_WIDTH x 1.4

Just to let you know, this gives a significant amount more room than you expect.

Explicit and Illegal thumbnails will be punished accordingly. Moderation is able to edit your thumbnails as well. Thumbnails that are deleted will be replaced with a Missing Thumbnail image.

- Added Defined Banners:

Admins are able to create banners at the request of users.

You're able to upload the images for banners using the same methods as Custom PFPs and Thumbnails. Keep them between 1320px wide, 280px tall at maximum, and 330px wide, 70px tall at minimum for the default resolution. You're able to create a variety of wide banners images (i.e. 1320x70px) and thin banners images (i.e. 330x280px) if you want, although it should still give insight on where the user is being advertised towards.

Always specify the background style, url destination, and hover text description when requesting. (See the request template once I'm finished with it.)

A majority of the requested banners will be sent to the low-priority free category. You'll be able to pay $1 USD per month for EACH banner you choose to be sent to the high-priority category. You will NEVER be charged for high-priority banners you're gifted (gift symbol in the listing) from future lotteries, events, and contests.

40% likelyhood of encountering a random low-priority banner, while high-priority has a 60% chance to appear.

All admins are free to monetize creating and updating high-priority banners for users as long as they respect the $1 USD per month model. Ask me for the spreadsheet when you want to for better tracking.

A significant sum of the funds provided by the users of this site when sent to me will go directly back into funding the site itself. I, Tee I. Thingus, will never ask for more money from those who wish to give a fixed amount to help the site stay online.

- Added Clickmarkers:

Choose from an assortment of click effects inside the account settings under "Clickmarker."

  • "Hitmarker" is a reference to MLG culture from the 2010s.
  • "SeeStars" is an experimental "combo clickmarker," a clickmarker that changes a wide variety of details within a certain period of time after a click.
    • It's also a multi-layered clickmarker, where three origin images are pieced together to form a complex effect.
  • "None" will disable the clickmarker script.

"Hitmarker" is always the default, even for anonymous users.

- Reworked Default Blacklist Tags:

To better support the 14-18 age range of users who are allowed to shitpost here, I revised the default blacklist tags. If you wish to update your own tags to reflect our modern system, here it is:

gore
furry
'o
cropped_porn
porn
rating:explicit
rating:questionable

(I will acknowledge the safety procedures minors should take on this site in a future wiki entry.)

- Added Censor Thumbnail Toggle:

If you wish to browse SWAbooru in public, but hate that posts don't have the censor image when you log in, then go to your settings and toggle true the "Show Censored Thumbnails?" option.

- New Censored Thumbnails:

I added four thumbnails to the randomizer:

- Added Pollings:

Create dtext-supported polls using dynamic text sorting, i.e. pc-1: and finishing with ::end. It's case insensitive.

  • When creating a new Polling, the choice box prompt will have hint text to guide choice creation.
  • Add up to TWENTY different choices for extra emphasis on the true "no guns!" experience!
  • Choose any duration between ten minutes to ten years.
  • Link to pollings inside any dtext-supported part of this site using polling #<ID_NUMBER>.
  • Be able to rescind a vote you regret with a twenty minute long cooldown between each retraction. Your first vote refund will be free.
  • Added a six-minute delay between starting and pausing a poll to prevent democratic exploitation.
  • Once it reaches at or below the twenty-minutes left mark, pausing will be disabled.
  • View results of the ongoing poll with dynamic colored bars in the Polling Votes page. All votes are able to be seen by default.
  • Winning choice will be displayed once the Polling expires.
  • Moderation is able to pause, delete, and force expire/unexpire any poll they wish to, but are expected to leave old results lie.
  • Users who vote will have the text of their choice displayed with their answer, preventing foul play with editing values.

- Theme Changes:
  • Dark & Light themes have been updated
  • iBooru has been added to replicate the colorations available within the homeworld.
  • SWAero has been added to simulate designs from the Frutiger Aero-era. More situational and complete background images will be added with time.

iBooru & SWAero have previously-teased Feature icons

- CSS Layout Changes:
  • New logos for each site theme, colors should be able to be manipulated with custom CSS.
  • New style of buttons to add onto the skeuomorphism plans.
  • Creator of post is now displayed above the post itself.
  • Reddit-style Updoots & Downdoots are replaced with the Smile & Frown icons directly beneath the post. Good riddance.
  • Favorite button is now located to the right of the voting buttons.
  • Comments and Forum Posts are styled to stand out from the background of the site.
  • Site table styling is reworked to require a horizontal scrollbar when needed. This prevents the header and footer from breaking if the table becomes too horizontally-large.

- User Profile Additions:
  • Formatted profiles to closer resemble the homeworld's layout.
  • Active Days are displayed on the left, while Join Date is displayed on the right.
  • User Levels are directly displayed underneath username.
  • Added count of created Pollings and amount of Banners that you hold.
  • Added value of user's Default PFP and id number of user's Custom PFP.
  • Added the ability for moderation to easily remove a user's Custom PFP under the "Reset PFP" button.
  • Added a link to a user's Flashcorner content as "Flashes."
    • I was not able to fix the Missing Flashcorner Title bug, so your Flash content will not display its title underneath it within your User Profile and the Comments feed, despite formatting.

- General Changes:
  • Replaced "Notes" in Navbar with "Pollings." You'll still be able to view all Notes by going to the sitemap (top left-most globe symbol on mobile).
  • Fixed resolutions for many available emojis.
  • Added [gator], a variation of [quote] that is this site's greentext format. A "gator" button will appear right next to "reply" and will automatically add ">" to the very beginning of the text.
  • All members are able to view who smiled and frowned posts and comments.
  • I added a few new emojis
:avaorndib:, :avaorndaero:, :onion:, :bruhfunnychef:, :swagplatter:, :fagplatter:, :ghoofiah:, :happymerchant:, :nigcow:, :pingas:, :armeniancory:, :armenianrage:, :swedishcory:
  • Changed a variety of date displays to the better month/day/year format.

- Words, Words, Words, Words:

It's been over a year now since SWAbooru launched, and 2025, for better or worse, has been a long year. As we trudge through 2026, expect various additions for RDR-0.4 sooner, rather than later:

  • Profile Renovations
    • Profile Background, reworked stats, changes to how items display
  • Subscribing
    • Works almost exactly to how the homeworld does it, a button to subscribe to the uploader of the post will appear to the very right, directly above the post under normal circumstances.
  • Subscriptions Tab
    • A separate action to the regular post listing that will create pages of Posts and Flashes that your subscription list had uploaded or repubbed.
  • Blocking
    • If you block someone, their comments will be hidden, they cannot DMail you, they cannot mention you.
    • Blocked users are still able to comment, smile, frown, repub your posts. The blocker just won't be notified or see it.
    • If you block someone on SWAbooru based on rustled jimmies, don't expect sympathy.
    • You will never be able to block moderation upwards, and vice versa as well. If a user becomes a high rank in the future, all blocks to and from that user will be deleted.
  • Block Filtering
    • All posts by a user you blocked will be censored out by default. A setting to completely remove them from queries will be available in the settings.
  • Republishing
    • A new process separate from Favorites. All repubs will appear inside the Subscriptions Tab and an additional filter in user uploads will be added to include them as well.
    • When you navigate from a repubbed selection, the username of the republisher will appear next to the uploader name, similar to how it was formatted back on homeworld.
  • User Awards
    • All registered users before RDR-0.4 launches will receive the "New Amsterdam Medal" for being here since the beginning.
    • Only four awards can be selected to display on your profile at a given time.
    • Admins are the only people able to bestow or take away awards.
  • Integrated Basic GIFcaption Studio
    • Will not be connected to interactiveFresco, and will only be there to supply the demand of easy gifcaption creation. Will be depreciated (not removed) once interactiveFresco Studio is fully-implemented.
  • Swatching
    • Customizable selection of the background-color of text elements, will be available as a new DText feature named [swatch].
    • You will be able to specify any text, but if you don't, it will automatically return the hex of the background.
  • Browsing Modes
    • Some people wish for a similar browsing experience to the homeworld, and that will be toggleable in the user settings.
    • By default it is set to "Basic," which is a catch-all term for the current way you browse SWAbooru.
      • Basic: Clicking on "Posts" will send you to the Collective index. All other tabs above will send you to their respective indexes as well.
      • Homeworld: Clicking on "Posts" will send you to the most recent Featured post on the site. Clicking on "Collective," "Featured," "Subscriptions," "Flashcorner," and "Top Flash" will send you to the most recent post in that category. Clicking on "Listing" will send you to the index of that specific category. You can use the arrow buttons (or keyboard shortcuts) below the post to navigate to and from a post, and as soon as I figure out how, swipe left or right.

I'm sure there's more things I'm including for RDR-0.4 that I forgot about, but that's the general gist of things.

Just pushed out the patch.

  • Reworked the Polling system to be more user-friendly.
  • Added a helper link beneath any input box that requires media asset ID to send you directly to your media assets (with media asset ID now easily readable directly beneath the image).
  • Added Barry.
  • Fixed a few bugs that I had missed while implementing the Custom PFP and Custom Thumbnail systems.
  • Allowed more freedom for moderators to do their thing.

I think there's more, but I can't be bothered to remember it all right now.
