They already do betray their own people, it's called the Hannibal Directive, they kill Israeli hostages that Hamas have taken becuase they don't want to negotiate things, let me reiterate, the IDF kills Israeli people if they've been taken hostage by Hamas or some other insurgent faction, that's how much they wish to avoid negotiation.
