What Defines a Porn Addict?
Porn Addict:
a).
(Noun) An individual who is shamelessly addicted to pornography, masturbation, and other self-pleasuring sources to an obsessive degree.
b).
(Noun) An individual who aims to spread their addiction to pornography to others in a community, typically younger members, to gain sexual pleasure from EPI-ing them.
c).
(Proper Noun) Creator
A porn addict can encompass all stated definitions or only a single entry, but their identification remains the same. These subhumans, when left unchecked, have historically wrought immense damage to communities and ecosystems, Internet or otherwise, due to their tendencies to mask their behavior until they gain enough trust to make removal extremely difficult or impossible. Once installed in a state of power, they move on to a variety of methodologies to network, spread, and consume content of their obsession with unsuspecting users.
Methods of Spreading Porn Addiction
Desensitization:
A slow and insidious commonplace method is the overall easing of users to elements they would initially consider to be shocking, disgusting, or societally unacceptable to the point of them seeking and collecting this material for themselves to spread outwards. This is usually initialized by introducing some risqué content or talking points into a community to the point of it being ingrained into dialog or their memetic process and then upping the ante once the offender believes they're comfortable. This cycle continues until the user either gains a devoted following or their sexually obscene content is soft-accepted by the community at large, allowing unimpeded distribution until outside influence against them is pursued.
There are three steps to go through if you get the feeling there's an attempt by an individual to desensitize you to the sexually deviant:
1).
Ask yourself, "Is this funny? Does the imagery presented serve as a setup/punchline to a joke that can be observed?"
2).
If it's not funny, look at some recent content and try to catch common patterns that would hint at some form of sexual obsession.
3).
Question the uploader about these patterns. Their response is the deciding factor if steps one and two fail to reach a conclusive identification.
Normalization:
A sister to desensitization, normalization is the convincing of others that the degenerative content they're trying to pass off belongs within the confines of the community. They typically cite specific rules and twist their wording into vague blanket statements that lazily fit their garbage into an "acceptable by default" status. For example, iFunny guidelines for pornography state that nudity, partial nudity, censored genitalia, sexual acts, cropped porn, bodily fluids, and animal genitalia are forbidden. Perverts twist fetish content like inflation art from DeviantArt into being "acceptable" by simply saying, "Hey, this character is not visibly attaining pleasure from being blown up like a balloon, is not nude, and it's a comedic image that reflects the slapstick era of cartoons. It's perfectly acceptable!" To the untrained eye, they think, "Yes, this is technically acceptable content," and allow that media to remain able to be further distributed. This is why when writing rules, you need to be extremely specific and use careful language in order for that to never occur, as offenders can lash out at moderation for taking down their content with the support of users they've convinced.
Wear & Tear:
I don't want to alarm you, but a great majority of porn addicts and illicit material distributors work in cells, or secretive contained groups, to achieve their goals. Often, they take to Discord to orchestrate special ed operations to raid places they deem as problematic and strive for complete community takeovers by spamming pornographic material and links to drive away, recruit, or overwhelm to the point where moderation fails to maintain the upkeep of pruning these blighted fruits. If successful, these 'cord gooners have yet another place to distribute their material unimpeded without it ever affecting them in the likely case it gets taken down.
Private Contact:
A porn addict works best when they're able to isolate those they deem to be easy targets, which would typically be children. Historically, the most effective procedure is one-on-one communication through a service's direct messaging system. It's rather simple to determine if they're trying to distribute porn, however, as they tend to immediately jump to sharing pornographic material and concepts when they feel safe to do so. They also spam links to outside resources, trying to convince you to further separate from your community by inviting you to other social apps.
In SWAbooru's case, a hypothetical addict would contact you privately via our DMail service. This is by design a one-on-one resource for users, and if you feel as if you're being manipulated by a correspondence, clicking the menu button and reporting the message will allow moderation to analyze and prosecute such activity.
Dog Whistling:
A rather unorthodox way of spreading their addiction, porn addicts will use slang that their own porn-numbed circle creates to entice curious individuals into researching their definitions in the hopes that they discover and join their ceaseless machine. If a user is not well known in your community and their lingo pops up links to pornographic websites, then it's dreadfully likely that they are hopelessly sex-addled.
Terrible Moderation:
When mods don't care about enforcing against the distribution of pornographic material when they are presented with evidence of such activity, it should be assumed that they are in support of it. Sometimes it's as simple as that.
What Should the General Response Be?
Do:
- Mock them as often and as creatively as your heart desires within the confines of [rules|our rules].
- Occasionally give them the stage to justify their actions.
- Discover or be given as much similarly embarrassing information as possible.
- Refuse any attempts to change the subject if the porn-addicted target attempts to do so.
- Contribute to the conversation by other users about why that individual had sunk so low and how to prevent that from occurring for others in the future. (Unless it's redundant and everyone knows why and how to prevent it)
- Document events to put on the wiki page dedicated to the user. Always record everything of note and include timestamps in EST due to the historic tendency for them to DFE (Delete Fucking Everything).
- Attempt to convince them to refrain from continuing their addiction. However, it's best to learn when the effort of doing so proves itself a pointless feat.
Do Not:
- Incorporate their fetishes in any works you create when mocking them.
Due to their concurrent derangement, attempting to troll them with their fetish does nothing more than give more masturbatory material to the porn-addicted target.
- Allow them to import immigrants related to them via Discord or other locales.
If they are found to be trafficked by the originating porn addict, they are to be treated in the same regard as them. If they remain undetected or undeterred, they will attempt to destabilize the site's ecosystem and wrestle for control of the environment in the future.
- Coordinate their doxx unless there's evidence of participation in illicit activity.
- Harass members of their family unless they directly contribute to and encourage their derangement (with evidence).
In a typical scenario, the family would not be aware of the extent of their actions, as that is information best kept hidden lest the user face massive repercussions. Contacting family to simply inform them of their special little porn addict's activity does not count as harassment.
- Take the event and the individual seriously unless the situation absolutely calls for it.
- Research what they are trying to spread unless you are of sound mind.
What Should My Response Be If I'm a Minor?
If you catch on to one or more methods from a user you suspect is clearly (and without doubt) trying to EPI or groom you, please do the following:
1).
Report the offending text, either publicly using the in-house report system or via e-mail communication with moderation or administration. Do not be psyched out by any statement the offender creates to prevent these reports from happening, like threats of harm or similar dangerous activity. As long as you practice proper OPSEC, you should be more than safe.
2).
If you reported them in secret, try to get as much information out of the offender as possible before they either catch on or are banned by moderation. Make sure to always keep these "receipts" (Evidence of action that includes the user or their association, a timestamp with SWAbooru's default EST timezone, and other such important details. Can be in the form of an image) in its own folder for easy access later.
3).
(Once they're banned) Either join or create a "members+" forum thread about the user to share as much identifying information as you find so we can prevent this user from creating new accounts or attempting to defile minors in the future.
