It was until like 5 years ago when it became socially acceptable to watch anime back in the day it was common to make fun of anime by calling them weaboos or whatever and if couple years ago if you had some brapnime on your pfp people would assume you're heavily autistic but now it's heckin' cool, why?

You have to remember that during the pandemic major comic publishers were taking a big nosedive in quality. also nobody was watching the brimstone on cartoon network.
Anime only blew up as much as it did because it filled a gap in the market! not to mention piracy is so abundant that you can watch over 400 hours of one piece without paying shueisha a dime.
If western entertainment could shape up, anime wouldnt completely fall off, but it would stop being "larpable". Lolifaggotry aside, the main complaint from normies about anime is that its corny and childish, and i gotta admit anime writing is an acquired taste.

Most of the anime plots can be summarised into that a socially inept loser protagonist finds some Macguffin that makes him extremely strong and some tranimes are an actual softcore 'p
I guess normies mostly watch mainstream tranimes and rarely miscellaneous that only Nophono cares arud i find Shoenen better than Moeshit but still fanbases of either ones suck.
