Seeing this new hytale discourse awoken a third eye
New minecraft sucks because its adds 9999 new structures/mobs/items like its some rpg
Then they add these mechanics (wouldnt be suprised if they add thirst LOL) thats reminiscent of the sims/stardew valley
It reminds me of RLcraft
To make a good minecraft competitor simply base it around terraforming a finite barren world

One other thing of note;
One bad thing about both new&old craft is the seemingly infinite 30m world border; it never lets you conquer minecraft
So imo there should be a organic world border (not somr command) that loops (round earth) after maybe 10k blocks
Also the underground/sky should have a 30m block border instead

I play this modpack but with the only other beta mods that don't crash the game; iron chests, battle towers, elemental creepers and biomes o plenty. it looks like it got an update today which is neat although i do have a very ambitious vision with a morbillion extra features
