A. Apart it being radically different from what we define as slavery today, one justification was Aristotles natural slavery, which posits that some people were just born to be slaves, and it let people save their intelligence from manual hardwork for things like scientific research, philosophical ruminations, art, politics and religion. Today we have lots of gateways out of the simple question of "what should I do?" IE the internet. So I dont believe itd cause a degeneration if we just transported manual labor to robots. As I think whitecollar/bluecollar jobs become more impractical we, if not having a certain skill, will probably me moved out to the rural areas (I do also see suburbs losing their purpose) see "solarpunk" for instance where we all cultivate our garden with robots. Xenophons book will be an essential. Get ready for a low cortisol future.
